Lego Movie ‘Everything is Awesome’ Lyrics a Critique of Obama Administration

The-lego-movie-awesome

Have you seen “The Lego Movie” yet? If you haven’t you should. I don’t care if you have kids or not, if you value culture that contains a powerful message for liberty and individual freedom and creativity this is your movie. It maybe one of the most important movies about liberty ever because it is aimed at children and will be watched by them repeatedly.

The main theme song is called “Everything is Awesome’ and is the theme song to the lives of the oppressed legos who live in a highly controlled environment dominated by “President Business” who is really the evil “Lord Business” who rules as a tyrant and placates the people by using music, tv, and tacos, a modern version of bread and circuses.

This movie is not anti-capitalist. Far from it, if anything it is a critique of the current administration and their policies which destroy individuality and individual initiative. It is pro-liberty and encourages every individual to fight back against the oppression in their daily lives.

If you have any doubts, look at the lyrics to ‘Everything is Awesome’, pay special attention to the rap sections.

‘Everything is Awesome’

Everything is awesome
Everything is cool when we’re part of a team
Everything is awesome
When we’re living our dream

Everything is better
When we stick together
side by side
You and I
Gonna win
Forever
Let’s party forever

We’re the same
I’m like you
You’re like me
We’re all working in harmony

Everything is awesome
Everything is cool when we’re part of a team
Everything is awesome
When we’re living our dream

Rap:
3,2,1
Have you hear the news everyone’s talking
Life is good cause every things awesome
Lost my job, there’s a new opportunity
More free time for my awesome community
I feel more awesome than an awesome possum
Dip my body in chocolate frosting
Three years later wash off the frosting
Smellin like a blossom, everything is awesome
Stepped in mud, got new brown shoes
It’s awesome to win and it’s awesome to lose

Everything is better
When we stick together
Side by side
You and I
Gonna win
Forever
Let’s party forever

We’re the same
I’m like you
You’re like me
We’re all working in harmony

Everything is awesome
Everything is cool when we’re part of a team
Everything is awesome
When we’re living our dream

Rap:
Blue Skies, bouncy springs
We just named to awesome things
A Nobel Prize, a piece of string
You know what’s awesome? EVERYTHING
Dogs with fleas
Allergies
A book of Greek antiquities
Brand new pants, a very old vest
Awesome items are the best
Trees, frogs, clogs they’re awesome!
Rocks, clocks and socks they’re awesome!
Figs and jigs and twigs that’s awesome!
Everything you see or think or say is awesome!

Everything is awesome
Everything is cool when we’re part of a team
Everything is awesome
When we’re living our dream

Remember, this is the song played to placate the people and convince them that their highly regulated and controlled lives are AWESOME! The action starts when our heros emerge to fight against this oppression.

DAILY MUST READ: The Imaginative Conservative #TCOT #WAR

Today I want to draw your attention to a new website I have been reading recently, and is beginning to have a profound impact upon me. It is… The Imaginative Conservative.

A picture of Russel Kirk
A picture of Russel Kirk (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

It’s purpose is to further the ideas of Russell Kirk who is known for his incredible book, The Conservative Mind, among many others. Kirk had a huge influence on conservative thought in America in the 20th Century, and the site is dedicated to his legacy. It has amazing “reprints” of essays by Kirk, and wonderful discussions of his ideas on how to influence culture.

Reading this site allows me to think more deeply about the fight in which we are engaged, how best to fight it, and what I can do as a “scholar” to engage in that effort to defend the True, the Good, and the Beautiful.

So go there now, visit, and scroll through the essays and read one that you find interesting, or click on a link you like and learn more. Then do it again tomorrow.

You can also find them on Facebook. Go there and LIKE the page. If you are like me, it will become the favorite thing in your news feed, (even better than Grumpy Cat).

Cultural Hegemony ~ Bill Whittle: “Where Do We Go Now?” (VIDEO) #TCOT #GGISTL #TGDN

Bill Whittle gives a forward looking discussion shortly after the election on where we need to go next. His view, and mine, is that we need to engage as a cultural movement so the political victories will take care of themselves. We must engage on the cultural battleground or we will continue to lose the political fights as well. Make no mistake though, the war is a cultural one, in which the political fights are mere skirmishes. Get your game face on. #War
